Brett Lee has turned to Hollywood technology to refine his bowling technique.
Lee donned a suit covered in velcro dots at Deakin University yesterday to measure his bowling and batting skills and movements.
His actions were recorded by infra-red cameras and transformed into stick movements.
The same process was used to create the computer-generated creature Gollum in the Lord of Rings films.
Initial results showed Lee had too much shoulder movement in his run-up.
Deakin University's Kim Vincs said the animation would show Lee how to make his bowling action more efficient.
"Hopefully there might be one little thing I can pick up with my action and can improve my bowling and maybe get a little bit quicker," he said. "If we can try and get our actions as close to perfect for our own body make up, then we'll be better cricketers."
