Simon Katich's marriage early this month to his long-time partner Georgie Willis may have come and gone with little fanfare but don't expect that to happen when his high-profile Australian Test teammate Brett Lee ties the knot with his podiatrist girlfriend Liz Kemp in Sydney next Saturday.
The wedding venue remains a top secret, with those on the guest list, including of course most of his teammates, urged to ensure it stays that way as the couple try to stitch up a exclusive picture deal with one of the women's magazines.
Mind you, at last report, no arrangement had been done, mag editors apparently baulking at an asking price believed to be a six-figure sum. Lee and his bride-to-be no doubt will be hoping their wedding venue remains a better-kept secret than their romantic farewell-to-single-life trip to the Hunter Valley last week.
The couple spent a day or two at the Casuarina County Inn, an exclusive hotel that boasts themed suites, but one Sydney gossip columnist who heard about it later reported they had chosen the "Out of Africa room", one that is advertised in promotional material as, "Can you hear the beat of the drums or is that your pulse racing?"
Lee, it should be said, has always been the romantic type. When he proposed to Kemp when she joined him during Australia's tour of South Africa in March, he did so by presenting her with a stunning engagement ring that featured a South African diamond.
