Lee eyes Flintoff battle

Australia fast bowler Brett Lee is looking forward to resuming his rivalry with Andrew Flintoff in the Ashes.

Lee was in devastating form during the recent DLF Cup in Malaysia, earning man-of-the-series honours after taking 12 wickets in three matches at an average of nine runs.

The 29-year-old will now turn his attention to next month's ICC Champions Trophy in India - but he already has half-an-eye on re-igniting his battle with England all-rounder Flintoff in the Ashes series.

"I'm looking forward to bowling against 'Freddie again'," Lee told the Courier Mail.

"I've always said that you have to put yourself up against the best."

The rivalry between Lee and Flintoff, now England captain, is perhaps the most memorable of the 2005 Ashes.

But one memory Lee would like to reverse is the narrow loss in the Edgbaston Test when he and Michael Kasprowicz almost batted Australia to victory only to fall short by two runs.

"I always try not to buy into the talk," said Lee.

"I'm not the guy that goes out and tries to nominate a batsman. But I'm really excited about playing against 'Freddie' and the English side.

"It's not like we've got something to prove - but there's a few things personally that I want to achieve."

Lee is feeling fully refreshed after a hectic cycle of cricket finished in April, giving him several months to recuperate and enjoy life at home.

Lee was recently married, and he and his wife are now expecting their first child - due during the Ashes in November.

"My life right now is perfect," said Lee.

"I'm really happy where I am cricket-wise - and as far as off the field, I'm as happy as I've ever been and I'm taking that into my cricket.

"We came off a very long season, and it was no secret I was mentally and physically exhausted. I had to make sure I gave my body enough time off."
