Lee wants redemption

Fast bowler Brett Lee hopes to fight his way back into the Test team to erase the disappointment of his first Ashes campaign in England four years ago.

Lee arrived in England in 2001 heralded as Australia’s most dangerous paceman but had an unhappy series, taking just nine wickets in Australia’s win.

The 28-year-old has played little Test cricket in recent years due to Australia’s trio of Glenn McGrath, Jason Gillespie and Michael Kasprowicz, but hopes to get another chance against England.

"It was frustrating not bowling well. I want another crack at them. The buzz will be unreal for the whole series because there's obviously that love-hate thing between the English crowds and us and they'll be getting into us. I want to be part of it,” he told The Sun-Herald.

Lee says he is determined to stay out of the spotlight in England in an effort to concentrate on his form.

"There will be no bold statements," Lee said. "I just want to get over there and get into it. Try and stay in the background because really, I'm not even in the team so there shouldn't be much attention on me. I'm going to keep working my butt off.”

"I feel like I'm going to be at the top of my game."
