IT could be harder for Brett Lee to displace one of Australia's in-form quicks than shift the English top order.
Speaking at a Wollongong Conference and Events meeting, former cricketer Shane Lee said his little brother shouldn't lose heart if he doesn't make the 11 for the first test against England at Lords in July.
Shane said he hoped Brett did make it, because he would be in the stands to cheer him on.
But realistically, he understood that might not happen. "I think Brett is going to struggle to be in the test side," he said.
"Kasprowicz in particular has done a great job and if a guy is in there doing a good job it is pretty hard to drop him."
However, with Australia playing so many tests and one-dayers there would be injuries and Brett would get more opportunities to permanently cement his place in the pace attack.
On the Ashes series itself, Shane expected a very tough encounter but was still backing a comfortable series win for Australia.
"A lot will come down to the first match at Lords," he said.
"I can almost see it already, Glen McGrath on 499 test wickets bowling to Andrew Strauss and a nick carries to Shane Warne at first slip."
Shane expected Australia to target Andrew Strauss, all-rounder Andrew Flintoff and fast bowler Steve Harmison.
He said the Australians would try to dominate the English early and destroy their confidence.
"They have got a lot of team belief at the moment but they haven't really tested themselves against really world class bowlers," he said.
"If they can overcome that I think it will be a really good series. But I think Australia will come out pretty hard early and try and steamroll them after that."
