The Indian pace battery of Irfan Pathan, Ashish Nehra and Ajit Agarkar got Aussie speedstar Brett Lee’s vote of confidence today.
“The Indian bowling attack is very good. Agarkar bowls wicket to wicket. Nehra is effective and Pathan has perfect rhythm and action. They make a good combination, all of them are aggressive and good enough to trouble any team,” Lee said.
He had words of praise for the Indian batsmen too. “Indian batting has great depth. You can run into Sourav Ganguly, then Sachin Tendulkar who is my favourite. It goes on,” he said.
He said there was no single spot where a bowler could bowl to Virender Sehwag or Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi. “It is difficult for any bowler to bowl to them. They adapt so quickly to the change in line making it tough for the bowler. Afridi can even hit an outside off-stump ball over mid-wicket,” he said.
The 28-year-old bowler said that the new ICC guideline allowing a bowler to bend his arm upto 15 degrees would not affect him and he would continue to increase his speed. “I have put all the doubts about my suspect action under the carpet. There is no pressure on me. To me 15 degrees is a hot day in Tasmania,” Lee said.
Lee, who did not play any Test match in the last 14-15 months, is gearing up for the Ashes series, slated for later this year. “It was a very frustrating period. But that’s over. I am looking forward to the Ashes series,” he said.
