Australian paceman Brett Lee has resumed training after ankle surgery and hopes to be bowling within six weeks.
Lee was operated on in March and is aiming to be fit for selection in the two-Test series against Sri Lanka in Darwin and Cairns in July.
"I will definitely make sure that I am ready for India though," Lee told Reuters on Thursday.
Australia is due to tour India in September, although there has been no confirmation on the itinerary.
The 27-year-old took the opportunity to back Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan, who has been barred by the International Cricket Council (ICC) from bowling his 'doosra' delivery.
"He's a great talent and I can't see any reason why they can't let him keep bowling," Lee said.
"As far as I see, he's a guy who really enjoys his cricket. I think that he means well."
Muralitharan has been forced to stop bowling his doosra after the ICC ruled he was illegally straightening his arm during the delivery.
"The reason why bowlers are getting more scrutinised these days is because of the technology," Lee said.
"So we have to leave that up to the biomechanist to make up their mind in regards to his action," said Lee, whose bowling action has also been queried in the past.
