Melbourne: Aussie speedstar Brett Lee, who has been away from action for more than five months due to injury, is looking forward to the couple of warm-up matches in India next week to get into top gear for the upcoming ICC Champions trophy in England next month.

According to The Age, he plans to build up to international cricket by travelling to India with the academy's young side for two matches in Bangalore and Chennai next week.

"He is ready to play cricket. He will go into these India games with a bit of confidence and I don't think there's any problem getting back into the (Australian) team once he has had a bit of bowling. I saw him at the weekend and the most thing is they are definitely coming through with pace and bounce and a little bit of an away swing and his ankle is not giving him any pain", the paper quoted Damien Fleming, the head bowling coach at the Centre of Excellence as saying.

Both the Chairman of selectors Trevor Hohns and Lee's manager, Neil Maxwell are confident that the player will be fully fit to play to his full potential at the Champions Trophy.

"It's been a long time now since his injury. He has been on a moderated recovery program and come through that with flying colours", said Hohns.

Lee, who was unavailable for comment, however said in a statement that "the ankle feels fine, my body feels fresh and I just can't wait to pull on an Australian uniform again".ANI
