Fast bowler Brett Lee says Australian bowling legend Dennis Lillee has convinced him his best results are still in front of him.
Lee endured a disappointing season in 2003/04. He was heavily scored off by the touring Indian side, but, having returned to the Australian squad after undergoing ankle surgery in March, he told The Courier-Mail he is ready to fire.
"I was sitting down for dinner with Dennis and I was asking whatever question I wanted. Nothing was regarded as a stupid or silly question and he taught me that I had to be confident and back myself," Lee said.
"Dennis has told me that a fast bowler doesn't reach his maturity until he's 28 or 29 years of age. I'm 27. I've got my best years ahead of me and I can't see any reason why I can't be back to where I was and better."
Lee is also keen to put in a strong performance in October's four-Test tour of India, and has spoken with former Indian fast bowler Javagal Srinath about bowling quick on the subcontinent.
