New South Wales speedster Brett Lee has not given up hope of being named in the Australian XI for next week's first cricket Test against New Zealand in Brisbane.
Lee is hoping to use the tour match between New South Wales and New Zealand, which begins tomorrow in Sydney, to press his claims for selection.
Lee was named in Australia's 12-man squad this morning but is tipped to carry the drinks.
Lee said while he did not play a Test in India, he used the tour to improve his fitness.
"I spent 10 weeks of getting preseason fitness over there," he said.
"I'm feeling the fittest I've ever felt, feeling really good and, as I said, looking at getting back here and playing some games for New South Wales.
"Hopefully if I get the call-up for the game starting next Thursday then that'd be a bonus as well."
Batsman Michael Clarke retained his place in the Australian team, while Simon Katich was dropped to make way for the return of Darren Lehmann, who has recovered from a hamstring injury.
