Sydney: After Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly and his teammate Irfan Pathan, Australia speedster Brett Lee was caught in an advertisement row as Cricket Australia (CA) appealed to a Melbourne court seeking to prevent a company from using the attributes of the pacer in its promotional activities.

CA today issued an application in the Federal Court of Australia (Melbourne Registry) seeking to restrain Unwired Australia Pty Ltd from continuing to use the attributes of Brett Lee in its promotional activities.

Unwired is a direct competitor of Hutchison 3G Australia, which has been a Cricket Australia major sponsor since 2001, a CA release said here today.

CA contracted players are prohibited from entering agreements with companies that compete with Cricket Australia major sponsors.

Earlier, an Indian telecom company was accused of 'ambush marketing' after it launched its new promotional campaign, featuring Sourav Ganguly and Irfan Pathan, during the ongoing ICC Champions trophy which has another global telecom company as its major sponsor.
