Brett Lee's statement

ABOUT mid-afternoon on the day prior to the Brisbane one-day international (I think the Friday), Warney and I decided to go for a drive because it was a pleasant day and we wanted to get out of the hotel for a while.

Warney drove down to the Gold Coast and when we got there we decided to grab a coffee, so we parked the car in a parking station and looked for a suitable cafe.

We started chatting to a bloke sitting next to us who said that he'd just opened a quiet little pub where there were some pool tables.

Warney seemed to be regarded in absolute awe by the local blokes, but we weren't hassled the same as we had been in the cafe.

We went back to the car park about 10.00 - 10.30pm.

As we were paying on our way out we stopped and had a chat to the pay station bloke who was being very friendly.

While we were talking to him about 40 people gathered around the car, including a lot of young girls wearing skimpy clothes who seemed to be on a night out.

Warney said: "It's getting too crowded. Let's get out of here." So we drove off with all these cars following us.

We made a couple of turns trying to find our way back to the road home and one of the cars kept following us.

Because they were following us and being persistent and saying things like: "Give us an autograph", Warney said: "Stuff it, I'll do it if I have to -- sign or whatever -- and we can get home".

I had the radio on and wasn't paying too much attention, but after we stopped the girl got out of the car and came over to Warney's side of the car. The convertible top on our car was down.

From what I can remember the girl looked about 18-20 and had brown hair and was of roughish appearance.

After she came over to the car she tried to kiss Shane and she was falling all over the car -- she seemed to be intoxicated.

She was saying things like, "I'll give you my mobile phone number" and Shane was saying things like, "We've got to get going".

SHE couldn't remember her mobile phone number and she kept asking a bloke in the car, "What is it? What is it? 0412 or something" and some guy yelled out a number. Warney was saying, "yeah, yeah" but made no attempt to write down the number.

At some stage while all this was going on, she leaned into the car and kissed Warney near the mouth, but he was backing away and certainly didn't kiss her back. I think she then said something like, "goodbye, see you later" and then we drove off.

We didn't do anything wrong on that day. This incident has caused me worry and personal embarrassment due to the allegation made against Shane Warne and myself.
