One of Australia's most popular sportsmen and leading international cricketer, Brett Lee, is tonight launching his own clothing label.
The Brett Lee Collection is being unveiled at a launch event in Sydney tonight, with the clothes being showcased by a line-up of celebrity models that includes leading sportsmen and media personalities.
The clothing line has been chosen from a range of local and international manufacturers, with the underlying aim of developing a menswear label that is stylish, modern and comfortable.
As head of the label, Brett is responsible for selecting the clothes and overseeing the design philosophy that will continue to guide the growth and development of the Brett Lee Collection.
"Having my own line of clothing is something I've thought about since I started working in men's fashion over four years ago," Brett said.
"Fortunately, being selected to play cricket for Australia has opened many doors for me, including the opportunity to realise a dream of establishing my own fashion label.
"I'm passionate about building the business and want to expand distribution across Australia and, ultimately, I'd love to open my own retail outlets.
"This is the industry that I want to be in when I finish playing cricket, so naturally I'm pretty serious about making it work and continuing to be heavily involved in all aspects of the business," he said.
Brett and his brother Shane, who is also an international cricketer, are partners and investors in the business, together with Brett's long-term employer in the fashion industry, the Sydney-based Barclays Menswear group.
Initially, the clothes will be distributed through a Brett Lee concept store that has been established within the new Barclays Store located in Sydney's Centrepoint Tower.
Brett has worked at Barclays throughout his cricket career, which has given him the knowledge, experience and contacts necessary to establish his own clothing label.
"Shortly, I will be in a position where I can also employ young sports people to work with me on the label and help them develop a career in fashion that will support them beyond their sporting careers," Brett said.

Brett Lee's line of clothing will meet the needs of a number of key market segments:
Clothes selected in the first range are best-described as stylish, comfortable and versatile with a blend of strong colour themes.
Fabrics are predominantly natural fibres or lighter weight blends consisting of contemporary separate co-ordinates, including paneled zip front jackets; moleskin jackets; flat front, low-rise jeans and trousers; and slightly shaped casual shirts.
The Brett Lee Concept Store
Situated within the Barclays Store in Centrepoint Tower is the Brett Lee concept store. More than 45 square metres are dedicated to displaying the Brett Lee Collection.
The concept store will feature an Internet kiosk where customers can visit Brett's website (www.brettlee.com.au), register their contact details and, subsequently, be sent information on the clothing line.
