| Feb 05, 2010 | LEE NON-COMMITTAL ON TEST FUTURE |
| Lee non-committal on Test future Source: ABC Sport - February 3, 2010 Injury-cursed paceman Brett Lee has refused to guarantee continuing his Test cricket career until next summer's Ashes series. Lee, 33, insists he still has plenty of cricket left in him despite recent elbow surgery for the latest injury problem to plague him. But what form that cricket will take is unclear, with Lee offering a "maybe" as his answer to whether he saw himself continuing to play on for Australia in the home Ashes series at the end of 2010. "I have to work out what I want from cricket now," Lee said in Melbourne on Wednesday. "I'll just see how the arm pulls up, see what's in front of me, and see what things I want to tick off in terms of my cricketing life. "I'll make that call when it's appropriate. "Hopefully there's a bit of cricket left in me yet, but we'll wait and see how things pan out." Lee was most recently sent home from the one-day tour of India in October with an elbow injury which required surgery, and a side strain wrecked his Ashes series in England last year. In his absence this summer, a new batch of competitors for fast bowling spots in the Australian team has emerged. Doug Bollinger has blossomed internationally, while Clint McKay and Ryan Harris have impressed when given chances. Lee remains non-committal on when he will make his return from the elbow injury, though the Indian Premier League starting on March 12 is the most obvious target. He is scheduled to play for Kings XI in the IPL, and his profile in India and the lesser demands on his body in the Twenty20 form of the game would make it the ideal place to launch his comeback. "I'm still quite a few weeks off bowling at this point in time, but I'm comfortable with the way things are shaping up," Lee said. "I'm not really sure (of a comeback date) at this point in time, but I'm seeing my surgeon Thursday and we'll know a lot more after that. "It's just a day to day thing. I'm getting constant physio, seeing each day how it all goes. "The arm's where all the pressure goes through, so I won't really know until I get out there and start bowling again." - AAP |
