| Nov 17, 2009 | LEE IN LIMBO AS FATHERHOOD & INJURY PUT HIM TO TEST |
| Brett Lee is a fast bowler and a father. They're at loggerheads right now because elbow injury or not, the fast bowler keeps getting in the father's way. ''I want to keep playing for Australia, but to be totally honest with you, I need to get away from the game to work out what the future holds,'' Lee said yesterday while nursing an elbow injury and simultaneously giving the distinct impression he's bracing himself for the very real possibility that he will never play cricket for his country again. ''I have to be honest with you guys, I have to be honest with myself, there are a lot of things I need to work out both with cricket and my personal life,'' he said. ''There's a lot more to me than just a fast bowler, I can tell you. There are a lot of other interests.'' Preston is the biggest. Music is another, a likely future career. Cricket still rates highly but, sadly, the truth is that an outstanding Test career is as good as gone. Even if elbow surgery is successful, a recall for Lee in the traditional format would be a long-shot in the year of his 34th birthday. A more likely scenario is Lee spending the twilight of his playing days wreaking a bit of havoc in one-dayers and Twenty20. He's always been intent on taking 400 one-day wickets. He's on 324 without any semblance of a bullet. Read full story » |

| Nov 17, 2009 | LEE HOPES TO KEEP PLAYING |
| Australia fast bowler Brett Lee will leave the game proud of his career if injury forces him into premature retirement. The paceman's 76-Test journey is at the crossroads, with a persistent elbow injury flaring up again and sidelining him for up to 12 weeks. That leaves Lee no chance of forcing his way back into the Test side this summer and, at 33, his future looks very uncertain. "At this point in time I don't need to make a call. It depends on how the operation goes - if that takes place - how the fitness is and how much I want it," Lee said. "I want to keep playing for Australia. I love being out there in the green and gold and enjoy playing for my country. Read full story » |

| Nov 17, 2009 | BRETT LEE FORCED TO CONFRONT TEST RETIREMENT |
| Brett Lee was having detailed discussions with his manager overnight about the possibility of following Andrew Flintoff into Test retirement but continuing to play lucrative one-day and Twenty20 tournaments. Long-term manager Neil Maxwell claims that Lee must consider the "broader picture" after breaking down again with an elbow injury which may rule out the veteran paceman for the entire Test summer. Maxwell denied that any Test retirement announcement would come at a press conference called for this morning, but said there would be ongoing discussions. "From his perspective he's obviously got to consider the broader picture," Maxwell told The Australian last night. Read full story » |

| Nov 14, 2009 | BRETT TUNES UP FOR BOLLYWOOD RETIREMENT |
| Brett Lee may be working his way back from an elbow injury but his vocal cords are of no concern: the paceman will be releasing more songs next year. Lee, who got to No.2 in the Indian charts with his debut single You're the One For Me, a duet with Indian diva Asha Bhosle, has been working on tracks with a close friend. Lee's manager Neil Maxwell said last night the fast bowler was now working on release strategies. ''He will be releasing stuff probably early next year,'' Maxwell said. ''It is something he is going to look at past cricket.'' Read full story » |

| Nov 14, 2009 | BRETT'S BLOG: HERE'S HOPING FOR A TEST SPOT |
| I can only ever really focus on the cricket that's in front of me and for now that's just Twenty20 and one-day cricket. I'm happy with the way I've been playing. The ball's been coming out very well in England, at the Champions Trophy in South Africa and now the Champion's League here in India. Fingers crossed I've done enough to sneak back in to the Test team for the West Indies series. Read full story » |

| Nov 14, 2009 | LEE FACES UPHILL BATTLE FOR TEST SPOT |
| The push of Brett Lee and Stuart Clark to regain their Test spots at the Gabba could be in vain after Andrew Hilditch, the chairman of selectors, indicated Australia's three younger bowlers would remain the panel's preferred option. Australia's decision makers are already looking ahead to next year's Ashes series and will use the Tests against West Indies and Pakistan to groom the side for the attempt at regaining the urn. | Nov 14, 2009 | HILFENHAUS BACKS LEE FOR TEST RETURN |
| Brett Lee is definitely capable of bowling again for Australia in a Test match, according to selection rival Ben Hilfenhaus. While Lee has battled to overcome an elbow injury his stocks with selectors have waned, sending him down the pecking order. Australia's chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch says it's going to take something pretty special for Lee to force his way back in to the Test team. Lee says he is 100 per cent fit and wants to be in the next Test side. "I don't see there being any pecking orders," he told News Ltd in Sydney. Read full story » |
