| "Brett Lee, Brett Lee, give us a wave," chanted some of the England support towards the end of the Boxing Day Test 2002 inside a near-empty MCG, made up mainly of the Barmy Army contemplating yet another Ashes hammering. The Aussie fast bowler duly responded to the English followers and was met by a further song: "Keep your arm straight when you wave." A big huge beaming smile developed on the New South Walian. Lee had received some harsh treatment from English supporters during that series with shouts of "no ball" every time he ran in, a reaction to false allegations over his bowling action. But Lee laughed off the songs and banter. He let his showmanship and bowling do the talking. One of cricket's good guys, Lee is loved throughout the cricketing world. Read full story » |

| Brett Lee will have his right elbow in a brace for six weeks following surgery in Sydney on Wednesday to repair a damaged ligament in his right elbow joint. But the veteran fast bowler hopes to be playing again by the end of the season. Cricket Australia medical officer Dr Trefor James said: "Brett will be required to use an elbow brace for a period of approximately six weeks and then commence more intensive rehabilitation. | Injured pace bowler Brett Lee faces a lengthy rehabilitation after undergoing surgery on his right elbow. Lee had an operation in Sydney on Wednesday to repair a damaged ligament in his right elbow joint which had ruled him out of contention for the current Test series against the West Indies. | Brett Lee's Test career is not over yet, and the fast bowler expects to be back playing before the end of the summer. There had been suggestions the quick might give up the long form of the game after an elbow injury waylaid him at the start of the season. Lee has consulted several specialists and decided to have an operation in the next few days. He is suffering from a bone spur on the joint and a ligament strain and while there was some hope he might not need to go under the knife, doctors have decided it was the safest option for his long-term future. | Former Test quick Rodney Hogg has urged Brett Lee to retire from Test cricket in a bid to spearhead Australia's World Cup campaign in 2011. Lee's international future is at the crossroads, with the 76-Test veteran taking time out to ponder his future after succumbing to another injury, this time an elbow complaint. Despite his litany of setbacks, Lee is not convinced his illustrious Test career, 310 wickets at 30.82, is over. The Australian fast bowler will play the waiting game while doctors assess the extent of the elbow injury that could keep him out of selection for the Australian Test team this summer.
