Apr 11, 2010 BRETT LEE RETAINS CRICKET AUSTRALIA CONTRACT
Fast bowler Brett Lee has retained his Cricket Australia contract for 2010-11 but fellow pacemen Stuart Clark and Nathan Bracken were among five players dropped from the 25-strong list released on Wednesday.

Batsmen Brad Hodge and David Hussey and wicketkeeper Graham Manou also lost their central contracts.

The selectors have stuck by Lee, 33, who has retired from test cricket, despite injuries and poor form. He has been selected in the squad for the Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies starting on April 30.

Apr 11, 2010 NSW WAITING TO HEAR FROM LEE ON FIRST-CLASS FUTURE
A day after David Warner announced he would remain with NSW, Blues officials are unsure if Brett Lee will play first-class cricket next summer.

Lee, who took 0-38 in his Kings Punjab XI's victory over Mumbai in the Indian Premier League, has retired from Test cricket but has not made it clear if he will also walk away from the longer form of the game at domestic level.

If Lee were to continue in the Sheffield Shield next summer, the Blues would have an all-star pace attack featuring Stuart Clark and Nathan Bracken - who both lost Cricket Australia contracts last week - along with top-line youngsters Trent Copeland, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc.

Apr 04, 2010 PONTING BACKS LEE TO SHINE
Ricky Ponting has no doubt veteran fast bowler Brett Lee can play a significant role for Australia at the upcoming World Twenty20 despite his lack of match practice.

The 33-year-old paceman was a surprise inclusion in Australia's 15-man squad on Tuesday, but there are still doubts over Lee's fitness considering he has played just a handful of games in the current Indian Premier League after elbow

Apr 04, 2010 BOWLER LEE FIGHTS HIS WAY BACK AFTER INJURIES
It is good news for Lee and bad news for Ryan Harris, who misses out on a place despite doing all that has been asked of him in all three forms of the game for his country.

Selector Andrew Hilditch said it was a tough decision.

"While Brett Lee hasn't played the amount of cricket we would've liked him to in preparation for this World Cup, at his best he is one of the best Twenty20 cricketers in the world," Hilditch said.

Mar 19, 2010 SECURITY FEARS PLAYED ROLE IN LEE RETURN
Brett Lee's management has confirmed the security environment in India played a part in the fast bowler's decision to fly to Sydney to have his surgically repaired elbow checked for the IPL.

But Lee intends to return to his Kings XI Punjab franchise upon receiving medical clearance from Cricket Australia. ''From a security point of view he'd prefer to be spending the time waiting in Sydney rather than Chandigarh,'' his manager, Neil Maxwell, said.

Mar 17, 2010 BRETT LEE: THE LAST OF THE GREAT AMBASSADORS
With Brett Lee announcing his retirement from Test cricket and a return to the international fold in the shorter formats looking unlikely, Paul Moon tells us why the loss of the paceman is bad news for the game beyond his wicket-taking abilities .

"It is relevant to understand the intrinsic nature of the Aussie but to the neutral the perception is that they prefer aggression to grace. They have been accused more than once in recent years of ‘breaching the spirit of the game’ and they have been called bullies. If a worldwide poll were taken, few would agree that the Australians make good ambassadors for cricket."

Mar 11, 2010 INDIAN SIGN MAGIC FOR LEE
Brett Lee has always been a man in a hurry. Bowl fast, retire young, then on to the next thing, be it making movies in Bollywood or putting his name to fashion labels back at home. No time for regrets.

With a CV like his, why worry? There is not much else in cricket left to win, save for the recently-minted Twenty20 trophies of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the World Twenty20.

The IPL has special resonance for the 33-year-old fast-bowler, given his affinity with India. Kings XI Punjab, the franchise he plays for, start their IPL campaign in Mohali on Saturday, and the Australian is desperate to play a part. “I am working overtime in order to be ready for the first game,” he said.
