Under-siege Australian paceman Brett Lee has found an unlikely ally - England's leading batsman, Kevin Pietersen.

"I spent a lot of time with Binger (Lee) in the IPL in South Africa,'' Pietersen said.

"He's looking strong, he's looking fresh and I know how much he wants to play for Australia again. I hope he does.

Australia fast bowler Brett Lee insists there is still time for him to become even quicker as he bids to regain his place ahead of next month's first Ashes Test.

And he is adamant that, at the age of 32, he remains a "pure fast bowler".
