Australian fastbowler Brett Lee has resumed a gruelling fitness regimen with the aim of being fighting fit for the summer series England.

While his Australian teammates prepared for their ODI against Ireland and fellow quick Ben Hilfenhaus ramped up his own preparations with Australia A, Lee slogged it out in a Sydney gym.

Lee was forced home from the Caribbean before the World Twenty20 tournament got underway because of a muscle strain in his elbow.

A conversation with Australian speedster Brett Lee had a teenage fast bowler Israel Dagg convinced him he would chase an international cricket career five years ago.

As the Lindisfarne College 16-year-old charged in and hurled down 140kmh-plus deliveries in the McLean Park nets in Napier, even the touring world champions were impressed.

"It was a great experience. I spoke to Brett Lee and had a great chat with him, he said I could make it a long way in the game if I stuck at it. I decided I was going towards cricket," Dagg recalled today.

Jun 05, 2010 BRETT LEE RULED OUT OF HAMPSHIRE T20 CAMPAIGN
Injury has scuppered Hampshire's hopes of bringing in Australia fast bowler Brett Lee for their Twenty20 campaign, BBC Radio Solent understands.

The 33-year-old was due to take part in the later stages of the Friends Provident t20.

But Hampshire chairman Rod Bransgrove confirmed an elbow injury had ruled Lee out of the competition.

Jun 03, 2010 BRETT LEE BOWLS UP IMPORTANT ROAD SAFETY MESSAGE
Cricket fast bowling gun Brett Lee went back to school to give students at St Joseph’s College Hunters Hill a lesson in road safety.

The visit was part of the RTA SpeedBlitz Blues On the Road roadshow.

Since its launch in 2003, the roadshow has called on 165 NSW schools and cricketers have spoken to more than 14,000 students about the consequences of speeding.

NSW and Australian cricketer and Slow Down Pledge ambassador Brett Lee, 33, said the team recognised the importance of speaking to the community about road safety, especially young teenagers about to get their L-plates.

Avondale College staff members and students greeted Australian cricketer Brett Lee with a Mexican Wave at a festive forum this past Wednesday (May 26).

Brett had come to the Lake Macquarie campus to speak about life as an elite sportsperson, to motivate student leaders and to meet the staff.

Beach balls, classic catches and national flags added to the fun as Brett answered questions staff members and students sent from their mobile phones during forum. One question came as a proposition: Will you marry me?

May 24, 2010 LEE POISED FOR HAMPSHIRE STINT
Recovering fast bowler Brett Lee is poised to join English county side Hampshire for a short spell.

Lee's manager Neil Maxwell says the paceman has signed for Hampshire and will spend August at the Rose Bowl, as long as he receives approval from Cricket Australia.

'Brett's elbow injury has cleared up and he's signed for Hampshire after Australia's one-day series against Pakistan in England in July.
