Sep 11, 2009 BRETT'S BLOG: RICKY RETURNS AND RETIRES
The whole squad has been really enjoying their cricket and that's probably partially a reason for our early success.

Everyone was up for the match at Lord's – it's such a special place to play cricket – and I think it showed in how we played in the field after a good showing with the bat.

We slipped behind a lot of times in the game and in the end it was Mitchell Johnson’s last burst of runs that won us the match.

Sep 11, 2009 BRETT LEE NOT THINKING ABOUT QUITTING
Fragile speedster Brett Lee has reached a phase in his career when recurring injuries question his longevity but the Australian pacer says he is in no mood to hang his boots and will continue playing as long as his body permits.

"I'm not even thinking about the end at this point in time. I don't think have to prove anything, I've been playing cricket for Australia for 10 years and hopefully proved myself enough," he was quoted as saying by The Age.

Sep 08, 2009 JOHNSON LIKES THE LOOK OF LEE
Mitchell Johnson said fellow Australia quick Brett Lee was determined to put his Ashes disappointment behind him after helping condemn England to another one-day international defeat.

Lee, Australia's most experienced bowler on this tour, missed the whole of England's 2-1 Ashes series success with a side injury.

But the 32-year-old did his best to make up for lost time by roaring in at Lord's overnight, taking a tidy two wickets for 22 runs and wrapping up the game by dismissing Paul Collingwood as Australia won by 39 runs to go 2-0 up in the seven-match series.

Sep 06, 2009 BRETT'S BLOG: DAUNTING SERIES MEANS A LOT
It was disappointing to have the two Twenty20 internationals washed out.

Our start with the ball in the first match, however, was very encouraging. Our brief outing at Old Trafford was the first step in moving on from the Ashes.

With seven one-dayers now in front of us, we, as a team need to keep moving forward and get a good start under our belts at the Oval.

I can't stress the importance of this series to us, especially with what the team's gone through in the past couple of months. We will definitely be pushing to be close to the top of our game even from ball one of the series.

Sep 06, 2009 WATSON, LEE OK AFTER 'MARRIAGE TIFF'
It was the moment that threatened to ruin one of the most prominent friendships in the Australian dressing room, but Shane Watson has compared his Headingley press conference faux pas that angered pal Brett Lee to a marriage tiff.

One of the most bizarre occurrences of the Ashes series came when, two days before the fourth Test in Leeds, Watson was asked about the fitness of Lee - who had been campaigning to fight his way back into the team after a side injury.

Watson promptly told journalists it was a great shame Lee would not be picked because he wasn't match-fit, having been informed by team officials that was to be his response when asked about the paceman. It was news to Lee, who swiftly confronted the media to vouch for his own fitness. ''[I'm] 100 per cent ready,'' Lee had said emphatically.

Aug 29, 2009 BRETT'S BLOG: PONTING UNFAIRLY TAKING CRITICISM
The whole team was shocked and disappointed - to say the least - with the way things panned out in the fifth Test at The Oval.

These hard to take defeats do come sometimes in sport, and we have to accept our defeat graciously and get on with it.

Ricky Ponting has unfortunately been taking the brunt of the criticism for what is our defeat.

I think Simon Katich said it best in a recent interview: It's the easy option to blame a captain when a side loses but everyone has to take responsibility for this loss.

Aug 27, 2009 PONTING SAYS LEE MUST PERFORM IN ONE-DAYERS
Ricky Ponting has told Brett Lee he must perform well in the coming one-day series if he is to regain his Test place.

"I spoke to him about that once he found out that he wasn't playing in the last Test," Ponting said yesterday.

"The Test series was out of the way and he had to focus on the shorter forms of the game. If he gets himself back bowling well, there are opportunities to get back into the Test team.

Aug 22, 2009 UNCHANGED AUSTRALIA LEAVES LEE IN LIMBO
Brett Lee's fading Test career may have been extinguished when he was left out of the Ashes decider last night.

In a clear sign Australia has moved on from its former pace spearhead, Lee was on the sidelines at The Oval as his teammates went into battle for the Ashes, losing the toss and bowling first.

Lee has now missed Australia's entire Ashes campaign despite declaring himself "100 per cent fit" for selection in the last two Tests after recovering from his rib muscle injury.
