| Sep 26, 2009 | LEE HAS THE FIRE, THE FORM TO TAKE WICKETS |
| Ricky Ponting can envisage taking one ageing fast bowler to the subcontinent for the 2011 World Cup, but not two or three. This bodes well for Brett Lee but not so well for the other veteran of the attack, Nathan Bracken. Lee, almost 33, will spearhead Australia's Champions Trophy defence from tonight, while Bracken, 32, has his degenerative knee condition assessed by a specialist in Sydney. If the Champions Trophy, the unfashionable cousin of the World Cup, is a chance to take the pulse of the 50-over game amid the infatuation with Twenty20, it is also a signpost on the road to 2011 for a rebuilding Australian team. | Sep 14, 2009 | DESTROYER LEE OUT TO BREAK SPEED BARRIER |
| Speed kills, particularly in the marketing game, so as the only specialist bowler named in the Forbes top-10 highest-earning cricketers list, Brett Lee has more than one reason to ramp up his ambitions of reaching record-breaking pace. Fresh from destroying England with a scorching display of fast, swinging yorkers that skittled stumps all over Lord's to help Australia seal a series-clinching 4-0 lead with three ODIs remaining, Lee declared his goal of breaking the 100mph (160.93km/h) barrier. That feat would be worth a fair sum for a paceman who has already earned $US3million in the past 12 months, according to Forbes magazine, the compiler of various rich lists. Read full story » |

| Sep 14, 2009 | LEE IS FIRST TO CLAIM TWO ODI 5-WKT HAULS AT LORD'S |
| From missing a failed Ashes campaign to an historic five-wicket haul at Lord's, Brett Lee has been through a range of emotions on Australia's tour of England. Lee became the first man to claim five wickets twice in one-day internationals at the home of cricket as his 5-49 handed Australia a 4-0 victory in their best-of-seven series against England. "It certainly brings a smile to my face, put it that way," said Lee when asked whether his achievement could numb his bitter disappointment over being injured for the first three Ashes Tests and omitted for the last two. "I've left the Ashes behind me now, I have dealt with that and moved on. "I'm hoping to get the chance to play some Test cricket this Australian summer. The only thing I can try and do is take wickets in one-day matches to prove I can play Test cricket again." Read full story » |

| Sep 14, 2009 | 'FEROCIOUS' LEE IMPRESSES COOLEY |
| There is still more to come from "ferocious" Australia fast bowler Brett Lee according to stand-in coach Troy Cooley as the tourists look to complete a one-day international series whitewash of England. Lee was in top form, several times producing unplayable yorkers, in taking five wickets for 49 runs as world champions Australia beat England by six wickets at Lord's on Saturday to go 4-0 up in the seven-match series. Cooley, a pace bowling specialist, has taken the reins for the final three games while Australia head coach Tim Nielsen has a break before this month's start of the Champions Trophy one-day tournament in South Africa. And the form of Lee, who missed the Ashes opener against England with a side injury and couldn't force his way back in as Australia lost the Test series 2-1, is one reason why Ricky Ponting's men will go into Tuesday's fifth match at Trent Bridge full of confidence. | Sep 13, 2009 | LEE HAS A BALL AND MAKES HIS POINT |
| As Brett Lee made his way into the Lord's museum for his press conference, the ball he had used to claim a series-clinching 5 for 49 was already on display behind one of the glass cabinets. No doubt Lee would trade this five-wicket haul for one two months ago during Australia's first Test defeat on the ground for 75 years, but he could barely wipe the smile off his face as he contentedly reflected on a point made in no uncertain terms. | Sep 13, 2009 | FIVE-STAR AUSSIE LEE OVERPOWERS ENGLAND |
| Brett Lee routed England as Australia won the fourth one-day international at Lord's on Saturday by a crushing seven wickets to take an unbeatable 4-0 lead in the seven-match series. Lee took five wickets for 49 runs in nine overs of hostile fast bowling as England were dismissed for a meagre 220 with 21 balls of their innings left. World champions Australia then made 221 for three, reaching their victory target with more than six overs remaining. Read full story » |

| Sep 13, 2009 | LEE AIMS AT 100MPH AFTER ROUTING ENGLAND |
| Brett Lee believes he can be bowling around the 100mph mark after ripping through England's fragile one-day batting line-up in spectacular style here at Lord's. Experienced fast bowler Lee marked his 178th one-day international by taking five wickets for 49 runs as Australia won by six wickets on Saturday to go an unbeatable 4-0 up in the seven-match series. "I want to keep increasing my speed as I have during this series, starting off 88mph and working up to 96mph," Lee told reporters. Read full story » |
