| Australian cricketer Brett Lee has used his celebrity status to assure Indian students that Australia is a safe place to study, following a spree of attacks in Melbourne. | Oct 24, 2009 | HUSSEY AND LEE'S TEST CAREERS STILL IN THE BALANCE |
| Chairman of Australia's selectors Andrew Hilditch says he faces a "big decision" over the future of Mike Hussey and has revealed Brett Lee faces a challenge to revive his Test career. Lee was overlooked for the last two Ashes Tests despite declaring himself fit. He has returned to form in one-day cricket but may struggle to usurp Johnson, Siddle or Hilfenhaus who were the three leading Ashes wicket-takers. "Johnson, Siddle and Hilfenhaus did a very good job for us in England," Hilditch said. "I've got every expectation they would be right in the mix for the first Test. The fact Brett is playing good one-day cricket is helping his prospects. We will have the issue of if he can sustain that in the longer form of the game." Read full story » |

| Oct 24, 2009 | TEST SPOT BECKONS FOR ONE-DAY WONDERS |
| Every run from Shane Watson will be another nail in Phillip Hughes's coffin bag. Wickets from Brett Lee will scream, ''Put Me Back In The Test Team, You Fools!'' Seven one-day matches between Australia and India start at Vadodara tomorrow, and more than half the attraction will be following the form lines of the Test candidates. The two most vexing questions right now: Watson or Hughes to open the Test batting? Lee for a Test recall? Form is form. Confidence is confidence. Players of the high calibre of Watson and Lee can transfer skills from the short form to the long, so their one-day exploits will count in the minds of selectors. Watson played the last three Ashes Tests in place of Hughes, doing a bang-up job even if he didn't convert all manner of starts into a fit of hundreds. He'd be unlucky to lose his place as an opener … nearly as unlucky as Hughes was to be punted during the Ashes. Read full story » |

| Oct 24, 2009 | LEE POWERS NSW TO CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TITLE |
| All good things come to an end. The lads from Trinidad and Tobago were an enigma, but real enough to touch Indian hearts. They were the most popular team of the tournament. But somewhere in the crucible of a high-voltage final the music dimmed and the dream slipped away. Chasing a gettable 160, T&T faltered to 118 all out in 15.5 overs as New South Wales Blues were crowned the first Champions League T20 champions. When the teams lined up before the start of the final, Brett Lee got the loudest cheer. Never mind that T&T with their exciting bunch had added zing to the atmosphere at the Uppal stadium all these days. The blonde fast-bowler from Sydney, and the NSW, was still Mr.Popular. And Lee did his best to entertain them. After an electric knock with the bat, he caused early damage with fiery pace. Read full story » |

| Oct 22, 2009 | GILLESPIE SAYS BRETT LEE CAN WIN BACK TEST SPOT |
| Former Test speedster Jason Gillespie predicts Brett Lee could cannonball back into Australia's Test side by ripping India apart in the seven-match one-day series starting on Sunday. Lee turns 33 this series but still wants to be Australia's "spearhead", muscle-bound and hungry for action after watching the Ashes from the team dressingroom. "Brett is a proven match-winner, there is no question. I think he will play quite a big role in this Indian series," said 71-Test speedster Jason Gillespie of Lee, who took 2-15 from four overs in New South Wales's 79-run Champions League mauling of Victoria on Wednesday night at New Delhi. | Oct 20, 2009 | I'LL QUIT IF I CAN'T RETAIN BEING SPEARHEAD |
| Australian fast bowler Brett Lee has declared his intention to return as the Test spearhead this summer, and vowed to quit if he can't measure up. Laughing off last year's injury-plagued summer, Lee scoffed at talk of slowing down his bowling to prolong his international career. Fast and faster was how Steve Waugh instructed him to bowl when he burst on to the Test scene in 1999 - and that's the way he will roll until he retires. In a wide-ranging interview with The Sunday Telegraph, Lee opened up about the pain of not seeing his son Preston for six months and his desire to dominate international cricket for at least two more seasons. | Oct 18, 2009 | LEE WANTS TO RECLAIM LEAD ROLE IN AUSSIE ATTACK |
| The forgotten man of Australia's Test fast bowling stocks, Brett Lee, is aiming to re-establish himself as the spearhead of our attack this summer. The new generation trio of Mitchell Johnson, Ben Hilfenhaus and Peter Siddle might have the edge at the moment, but Lee scoffed at any suggestion he would slow down to prolong his international career. "I've spearheaded the Australian attack for a number of years now and that's what I'm focused on continuing to do," Lee said. Read full story » |

| Oct 16, 2009 | WE WILL HAND INDIA A WHITEWASH - BRETT LEE |
| Still more than a week to go before the Australia tour to India gets underway, but Aussies are sounding extremely confident. The game may not have begun, but the verbal battle certainly has. India versus Australia, experts say is the real deal and is not for the faint-hearted. This crucial series is where the winner takes it all, be it the prize, the glory or the accolades. However, the visiting Aussies have already started firing the salvos before the war commences on the battlefield. Pacer Brett Lee said, "We don't want to come over here saying that we are favourites. But we do want to achieve a 7-0 whitewash, that is if we play decent cricket." Read full story » |
