OK... can anyone believe my good luck? You'd better because yesterday I MET BRETT AGAIN!!! Seriously...I mean, it wasn't really like a meeting but it was so much fun!
Swarali (my friend) and I had gone to Wankhede to see the Aus vs. Maharashtra match - well not to see the match actually, to see Brett - so for nearly 30 overs he was standing near the boundary and we were standing just behind the boundary though we were on the pavilion but never mind that!
So first thing he did when he came was to say 'Namaste' to all of us - the crowd though there wasn't much of a crowd there earlier. So we waved at him and he waved back at us! Hehe, we were smiling so hard that the policemen sitting down there were watching us with real amusement! They knew we love him!
Then he looks at the crowd and says, "So its Big B's Bday today? Big B...Amithab Bacchan?" We said, "No it was yesterday!" He said "63?" We said, "64." Then he said, "Great man, Amithab Bacchan." And everyone laughed! Then someone asked him, "Hey Brett, you miss Preity?" So he says, "No man, I'm a married man now!" and he showed us his ring! Hehe...Then someone says, "You know what Brett, 'Jitega Bhai Jitega India Jitega!'" So he shouts from there, "Australia Jetaga!" How funny that was! Then someone shouts, "Hey we love you Brett Lee!" He says, "Shukria!" And then he says unreated things like "Where's the party tonight?" and "Chalo Chalo" and "Jaldi Jaldi" and "Shabash Shabash!" And whenever he would do 'Namaste' to someone, the crowd would just go "Salaam Namaste!" And he understood they were teasing him so he just looked behind and smiled!
Then someone asked, "Brett, how's Sachin?" He said, "Sachin, Sachin's great!" And he showed us how Sachin hits a six..with actions and all! Then he said "Dhoni!" and showed us how Dhoni hits a six! And all the while we were laughing so hard! I mean imagine Brett Lee talking to you as if he's your mate! Then a guy standing next to me started irritating him saying, "Hey Brett, I want your glares, man!" And Brett gestured to him saying, "No way!" And the guy says, "Take mine...they are for 100 bucks from Colaba!" Then someone asks him, "Where's Shane Warne?" He said, "He's not here." Then someone asks, "What about Shane Warne's scandals?" How can you ask such questions? Seriously! Still he just smiled. He was even singing Mukabla! And he would ask the crowd to start shouting "Gilly, Gilly".
And then some guys standing besides me were really irritating him, asking him the same questions again and again, so Brett just looked at me and kept smiling...coz he knew the guys were irritating him and I was feeling really embarrassing standing besides them.
It was just like Mumbai Mirror reported the next day "Brett Lee, the pace man and the showman that he is, was entertaining the crowd with gestures and even replying to their comments. Of course there were a couple of Pretty Young Things in the group that he was entertaining." I'm proud to say that the 'couple of Pretty Young Things' were me and my friend Swarali!
Then again after the match while he was going in to team bus, we shouted a huge "Hiiiiiii!" and he too said "Hi!" and smiled at us. I don't think I could ever forget this day ever in my life!
