Meeting the Aussies

Brett and Netra

Since today was a holiday for us Mumbaiites, I didn't have college to worry about so my friend and I decided to go to Brabourne Stadium aka CCI (Cricket Club of India). We were early so we decided to take a walk along Marine Drive (it's at the end of the road). While we were walking we saw this huge bus go past us toward the signal and at the window were Mathew Hayden and Brett Lee (sitting at different windows). Anyway Brett didn't see me jump up and scream but Matthew did apparently. So we crossed the road to he other side of the bus and who should look down upon us but Glenn Mcgrath I smiled at him and he gave me a big grin in return. Just behind him was Gillespie and I waved to him and he sweetly waved back.

We crossed the road and entered CCI Since the bus couldn't go right in so they got down at the entrance I saw all of them Adam Gilchrist, Clarke all of 'em. Errol Alcott who was standing with John Buchanan looked at me smiled and said to him "She's wearing yellow!" I heard that and grinned at him. Then Matthew Hayden came down and I just managed to get his autograph on today's edition of the Times of India (all over Shane Warnes face, who by the way I didn't see but I saw his trunk.) Anyway Matthew Hayden while signing said "It's really nice to see you again!!" I kept wondering where he saw me before and I remembered my earlier rather embarassing antics. (the screaming and jumping in the middle of the main road)

Brett came out last (unshaven), he looked really good though and I asked him to sign last November's edition of Wisden Cricket Asia over his pic and he did. Just as he was leaving I asked him if he would take a picture with me and he said after the session, I really didn't want to wait so I told him I had college and he came back and posed for me telling me "Jaldi Karo please" which tickled me no end.

It wasn't a very long thing as we expected to see them just as they had finished their net session, but as it turned out they hadn't even arrived when we came, as one of the journos said, they would've had more time if we had come at the end of the session.
