Meeting Brett in South Africa

I wasn't really a huge fan of the Aussies or even know who Brett Lee was. That was until the cricket World Cup was held right here in South Africa.

After seeing Brett for the first time at the Wanderers Stadium I was just blown away. After that day I'd always wanted to meet him.

Naturally when I found out that the Aussies were to tour SA in March, I was first in line to get tickets to any match, it happened to be the match in Centurion. I met Brett there for the first time, and I'd even got an autograph. I was so nervous when I saw him, that there wasn't even enough time to get a picture, which of course was terribly disappointing.

Being a flight attendant I travel around South Africa everyday, and every almost international sports team that visits South Africa stays in the same hotel us flight attendants stay in. This weekend I happened to be night stopping in Port Elizabeth where the 3rd one day international game was being held. On the Saturday that I was at the hotel I didnt see a single Australian player, which was terribly disappointing knowing that Brett was somewhere in the hotel.

On the Sunday after the match I just happened to be walking outside the hotel when the Australian bus pulled up. To my absolute delight the entire Aussie team was in the bus. I waited for Brett to get off, and as soon as he did I asked for a photo (yip, I had my camera with me the entire weekend hoping that I would get to meet Brett). Even though it was a hectic day of play and he looked extremely tired he was more than willing to let me have my picture taken with him.

It was by far the best night stop I have ever been on. Brett was absolutely friendly, and even more gorgeous than I expected. It was an absolute dream come true meeting him, and definately an unforgettable experience. I'm a huge Aussie supporter (yes I know, pretty weird for a South African), and Brett Lee fan.
