That Brett Lee has a staunchly musical side to him took us by real surprise. The star Aussie paceman was on a promotional trip to India recently and, as expected, made waves during his short stay. But what took the cake was his revelations about the band Six And Out he has formed with brother and former Aussie cricketer Shane Lee and four other state-level cricketers.
Brett, besides bowling vicious yorkers and bawdy bouncers, can play the guitar and piano with some distinction. And he has plans to tour India with his band and contribute to some charity. Noble thought, indeed.
This idea of doing charity work has been inspired by none other than Steve Waugh, whose work with a poor home in Kolkata is well-known. It goes to Steve's credit that while he has forged a steely team of ruthlessly professional cricketers, he has also motivated them to help the needy, and not only in Australia. In fact, Brett stressed that the Australian team has been doing charity work as a matter of routine. Well, sledging and finger-pointing apart, that aspect of the Aussie squad deserves only commendations.
