BL - The Label

Background Info

BL LabelBrett launched his own fashion label on 1 May, 2001.

The clothing line has been chosen from a range of local and international manufacturers, with the underlying aim of developing a menswear label that is stylish, modern and comfortable.

As head of the label, Brett is responsible for selecting the clothes and overseeing the design philosophy that will continue to guide the growth and development of the Brett Lee Collection.

BL Label"Having my own line of clothing is something I've thought about since I started working in men's fashion," Brett said on the night of the label's launch.

"Fortunately, being selected to play cricket for Australia has opened many doors for me, including the opportunity to realise a dream of establishing my own fashion label.

"I'm passionate about building the business and want to expand distribution across Australia and, ultimately, I'd love to open my own retail outlets.

"This is the industry that I want to be in when I finish playing cricket, so naturally I'm pretty serious about making it work and continuing to be heavily involved in all aspects of the business," he said.

Brett and his brother Shane, a former international cricketer, are partners and investors in the business, together with Brett's long-term employer in the fashion industry, the Sydney-based Barclays Menswear group.

Initially, the clothes will be distributed through a Brett Lee concept store that has been established within the new Barclays Store located in Sydney's Centrepoint Tower.

Brett has worked at Barclays throughout his cricket career, which has given him the knowledge, experience and contacts necessary to establish his own clothing label.

This is how the label is described on the label's official site.

"Represents the young professional man growing but not ageing. Planned over a season you will see a constant variety that will make you the first among equals. Athletic silhouettes to ensure your tailored garments are exactly that."

Philosophy: The BL range reflects Brett Lee's personal fashion philosophy; it's stylish, contemporary, comfortable and versatile.

Colour: The range uses fresh colour themes - highlighting sky blue, cumulus, lilac and avocado pastels, pure white, cobalt blue, navy, orange and black bolds, stone, beige and olive green naturals.

Fabrics: Predominatly natural fibres or lighter weight blends, including pure cotton fine knits and drills, Italian cotton, soft cotton/nylons and stretch cotton. Modernity is underlined with high-tech fabric finishes in cotton/lycra or tactel/polyester, pure wool and Microfiber.

Signature: The signature Brett Lee piece is a three quarter sleeve, shaped pure cotton knit in highlight colours.

In August 2008, fashion designer and Jupi Corporation president Bruno Schiavi and Cricket super star Brett Lee launched ACESTAR, a new underwear range using only the best yarns, manufactured to the highest quality standards.

The new ACESTAR collection is stylish, sporty and very funky, consisting of Y-Fronts, trunks and boxers using only 100% cotton fibres. As with many of Bruno Schiaviís collections the whole concept is affordability with style and comfort at the forefront. Using only the best fabrics such as DuPont and Brushed Cotton the new range is taking Australia by storm. The stylish designs in the ACESTAR brand are offered to consumers at an affordable price retailing between $12.86 and $14.95. The range is stocked exclusively at BIG W (Australia).

With a real eye for fabrics and great designs, as well as his internationally renowned sense of style, Lee strongly believes that the fashion industry needs to cater for every demographic, not just one particular section of the population. The new ACESTAR range with Schiavi allowed Lee to channel his experience and passion into a range that is both fashionable and affordable:

"I am really excited to be working with Bruno on this new brand. I have always been passionate about men's fashion and I hope people will like our collection as much as I do."

Since its hugely successful 2003 launch MensFit has become synonymous with quality, style and comfort, securing itself in the men's category as one of Australiaís leading brands. This new venture is a long held ambition to work with a sportsman and known fashion lover such as Brett Lee, said Bruno Schiavi:

"I wanted to partner with Brett because he has such great fashion sense as well as being respected by both men and women around the world. Brett is such a great role model and a great person that we can all draw inspiration from."
