Sep 02, 2010 LEE, JOHNSON AND WATSON WERE BOOKIES' TARGET
Cricket's illegal bookie scandal took a new twist when it was revealed that Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson and Shane Watson had passed on the mobile phone number that could have cracked the case last year.

An Indian man approached the trio in a bar at the team's London hotel during the Ashes last year and insisted on giving his phone number to the Australians.

Aug 27, 2010 LEE SETS SIGHTS ON NEW ZEALAND TWENTY20
A group of Australian limited-overs specialists including Brett Lee could be crossing the ditch to New Zealand to play in its Twenty20 league this summer.

Lee no longer appears in whites for Australia or New South Wales so is chasing extra games to keep him in touch for his domestic duties and any international calls.

New Zealand's Twenty20 tournament is in December while Australia's Big Bash is mostly in January, meaning there could be a trade of talent across the Tasman.

Aug 25, 2010 NZ SIDES CHASING AUSSIE SPEEDSTER BRETT LEE
Brett Lee could well be charging in for Wellington at the Basin Reserve in December after his manager confirmed he was ready and willing to play in New Zealand's Twenty20 competition.

The Australian fast bowler had been approached by Wellington and Canterbury to be one of their imports for the HRV Cup, Lee's manager Neil Maxwell said yesterday. He contacted Cricket Australia on Monday for official clearance and was awaiting its response before entering negotiations.

Maxwell, a former New Zealand Cricket marketing manager, said it was a realistic option as the 33-year-old chased a spot in Australia's World Cup squad after an injury-plagued year.

Aug 22, 2010 ALL-ROUNDER SET TO DELIVER A $20M NEW CAREER
He is set to become a multimillion- dollar global money-spinning machine, and cricket will be just a minuscule part of Test international Brett Lee's wide-ranging empire.

Insiders say the fast bowler, who has just signed with the Nine Network, could earn $20 million in the next six to seven years from his Indian ventures spanning a clothing line, modelling, a television deal and Bollywood roles. Aug 15, 2010 BINGA NOT ALONE ON TOP OF THE POPS
Brett Lee's status as cricket's ultimate rock star is being challenged by Protea AB de Villiers, who has released a CD that's receiving plenty of airplay on South African radio.

His album is also being marketed to millions of potential listeners on the addictive internet game site, Stick Cricket. The website has produced a new game that challenges players to better the 217 that de Villiers scored against India in 2008, but it's really a clever ploy to promote the album.

Lee is preparing to tour India shortly with his band, White Shoe Theory.

Aug 14, 2010 BRETT LEE FINDS SOLACE IN INDIA
After Brett Lee’s former wife Liz Kemp cited him being away in India as a reason for their separation, the cricketer has decided that he will be spending more time in the country, apparently trying to mend his broken heart.

“Music is my passion, no doubt about that. I would want music to be my future — who doesn’t want to be a rock star. I’ve always joked that I was a musician who used his sport to prop himself up but the India tour could be a real chance to make a go of things,” Brett said in a statement.

Aug 11, 2010 BRETT LEE TO JOIN CHANNEL NINE'S XI
Retired Aussie Test cricketer Brett Lee is on the brink of signing a deal with Channel 9 ahead of the Ashes series - and could branch out into lifestyle shows.

The deal, which follows a two-year stint at Channel 7, is unlikely to give the fast bowler a seat in the commentary box. But a Nine spokeswoman told Confidential: "He has a great media profile. It's possible [Lee] will do various things and obviously being a retired cricketer it's likely he will be involved in the cricket coverage, but not necessarily in the commentary box."

Once the deal is done Lee will join Nine's formidable cricket coverage team of Richie Benaud, Michael Slater, Ian Chappell, Tony Greig, Shane Warne, Bill Lawry, Ian Healy and Mark Taylor.
